September 14, (THEWILL) – The North Carolina Courage maintained their impressive home record on Friday, drawing 1-1 with Bay FC in a National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) match at Cary, North Carolina. This result extended the Courage’s home unbeaten streak to 19 matches, a league record.

Ashley Sanchez scored for the Courage in the first half, equalising after Asisat Oshoala had given Bay FC an early lead. The match marked the first encounter between the Courage and expansion side Bay FC.

Goalkeeper Casey Murphy made five saves for the Courage, who now stand at 10 wins, 8 losses, and 2 draws this season, accumulating 32 points. Bay FC, with 8 wins, 11 losses, and 1 draw, have 25 points and are unbeaten in their last three matches.

The visitors took the lead in the ninth minute when Oshoala converted a pass from Tess Boade. Sanchez levelled the score in the 28th minute, finding the net just inside the left post after receiving an assist from Denise O’Sullivan. Bay FC goalkeeper Katelyn Rowland made one save during the match.

Both teams currently hold playoff positions with six regular-season matches remaining in the 2024 NWSL season. The draw keeps both sides in contention as they aim to finish the season strongly and advance to the post-season.
