Oshoala Ends Goal Drought To Lift Bay FC Over Racing Louisville

June 30, (THEWILL) – Asisat Oshoala’s decisive penalty kick in the 76th minute propelled Bay FC to a 1-0 victory against Racing Louisville FC. The match, played under sweltering late-afternoon conditions in Louisville, Kentucky, marked Bay FC’s first back-to-back triumph this season.

The Nigerian striker’s goal, her third of the season, ended a seven-match scoring drought. Oshoala confidently placed the ball in the top right corner, wrong-footing Louisville goalkeeper Katie Lund after Jordan Baggett received a yellow card for a foul in the box.

Bay FC, an expansion team, improved their record to 18 points with the result. Goalkeeper Katelyn Rowland contributed to the victory with a clean sheet, her second in consecutive matches. The team’s defence held strong even as Louisville pressed for an equaliser, including a corner kick in extra time.

Racing’s defeat extends their winless streak to four matches, leaving them on 16 points. The home side struggled to break through Bay FC’s defence throughout the match, unable to capitalise on their final set-piece opportunity.

Unfortunately for Oshoala, the match concluded with her leaving the pitch due to an injury sustained in extra time. The extent of her injury and potential impact on future matches remain uncertain but she will be relieved to have returned to the scoring sheet.
