May 13, (THEWILL) – In a match against Cercle Brugge, Nigeria’s scoring sensation, Gift Orban, netted another hattrick as Gent secured a comfortable 4-0 win that brought the team one step closer to earning its ninth consecutive European ticket.

Despite missing two key players, Gent managed to create several opportunities in the opening minutes of the match. However, the game was brought to life after Cercle’s player Christiaan Ravych was sent off with a red card after a foul on Orban.

Gent played with a numerical advantage for the majority of the match, and Cuypers’ goal in the 37th minute broke the deadlock. There were no other goals before the whistle sounded for the interval.

After the break, Orban sealed the deal with another goal, bringing the score to 2-0. The vigour in Cercle Brugge’s early momentum was sucked out of the game as Gent took control of the match and managed to capitalise on its numerical advantage.

Orban found net in the 64th and 67th minutes to notch his third hattrick since joining the club at the end of January this year. Both teams will meet again in their next matches, in the reverse fixture of this tie, on May 20.
