Update: Operatives Raid Former Vice President, Sambo’s Office

SAN FRANCISCO, February 01, (THEWILL) – Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have raided the Abuja office of former Vice President, Mr. Namadi Sambo in the central business district.

THEWILL gathered that the operation was executed on Saturday night as part of ongoing investigation into the arms procurement scam.

It was also learnt that the office was raided in an attempt to obtain documents linking the office of the former Vice President to the alleged $2.1 billion funds earmarked for the procurement of arms by the office of the National Security Adviser.

According to EFCC sources, the former Vice President’s office is being investigated over allegations that some of the funds disbursed for political campaigns under former NSA Sambo Dasuki were routed through his office.

A report in national newspaper, The Nation, quoting an EFCC source, said the anti-graft agency may interrogate the former vice president over a N20 million monthly subvention to his office from Dasuki.

News reports said EFCC operatives extended the operation at the Manyathan Company premises till Monday.
