Ombatse Leader Killed By Soldiers In Nasarawa

SAN FRANCISCO, September 17, (THEWILL) –  Nigerian soldiers have killed the leader of Ombatse, the outlawed and dreaded cult, which attacked and killed indigenes of Alago in Obi Local Government in Nasarawa State.

The Army authorities had deployed soldiers to contain the violence. Armed troops have also taken over strategic parts of Lafia and other parts of the state.

The ethnic militia has been attacking and terrorizing indigenes that are not of their stock. The group had also killed scores of security operatives including police officers and agents of the State Security Service (SSS) in the state.

Though THEWILL has not been able to get his full name, the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Cornelius Ocholi, who confirmed the killing to journalists also said at least three members of the cult were killed by soldiers in the area. He added that four others who sustained injuries have been taken to a local hospital.

The Eggon tribe backed by Ombatse and Alago tribe of Obi Local Government Area have engaged in deadly clashes that have killed scores and destroyed millions of naira in assets.

Detachments of policemen were seen at the police command headquarters, waiting to be deployed in the flashpoint.
