October 17, (THEWILL) – Olowu of Owu, Ọba Saka Matemilola, has mourned the demise of Chief Raobil Akinsipo, the Akogun of Owu kingdom.

He died on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at the age of 69, and was committed to Mother Earth on the same day.

This was contained in a statement made available to newsmen in Abeokuta, the state capital, by Chief Abiodun Lasile, the Orunto of Owu Kingdom.

Ọba Matemilola described Akinsipo as a traditionalist, a leader and a seasoned broadcast journalist, who lived a remarkable life and embodied exceptional services and dedication to humanity.

He said that Akinsipo, a Yoruba language specialist who served in various capacities including the Head of Iwarefa, Owu Kingdom, left an irreplaceable vacuum in the Owu community.

“It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our esteemed Chief Raobil Isola Akinsipo, the Akogun of Owu kingdom, Abeokuta, on Tuesday, October 15, 2024. In keeping with Islamic traditions, Chief Akinsipo was laid to rest the same day.

“On behalf of Alayeluwa, Ọba Prof. Saka Matemilola Oluyalo Otileta Vii, Olowu of Owu kingdom, we extend our heartfelt tribute to Chief Akinsipo’s remarkable life and enduring legacy. A distinguished leader, he embodied exceptional service and dedication to humanity.

“Chief Akinsipo served the Owu Kingdom in various capacities including the Head of Iwarefa, Owu. He was a seasoned broadcast practitioner, a Yoruba language specialist, an insurance consultant and a traditionalist.

“His unwavering commitment to service, profound wisdom, and significant contribution to the Owu kingdom left an irreplaceable void in our community.

“We pray that his soul rests in perfect peace and that Chief Akinsipo’s legacy continues to inspire generations. May his memory be forever blessed”, he concluded.
