NWFL Super Six: Edo Queens Go Top Of Table With 1-0 Win Over Nasarawa Amazons

May 25, (THEWILL) – The Edo Queens have occupied pole position in the Nigeria Women Football League Super Six standings after a 1-0 win over Nasarawa Amazons on Friday, in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital.

Captain Suliat Abideen broke the deadlock in the 81st minute to send the Ada Bendel to the top with nine points after four games.

Elsewhere, a brace by Chiamaka Okwuchukwu gifted 2nd placed Rivers Angels a 2-0 win over Confluence Queens while five-time champions, Bayelsa Queens, dropped to 3rd from 1st after a frustrating goalless draw against bottom-placed Heartland Queens.

The Super Six takes another break on Saturday, after matchday five.

Matchday 5 draws the round-robin competition to an end this Sunday at the Samson Siasia Stadium with overall table toppers emerging champions of this season’s top-flight.

Rivers Angels’ final match against Heartland Queens on Sunday will be played simultaneously with the match between Bayelsa Queens and Edo Queens, with both matches kicking off at 12pm at the Nembe City Stadium, Nembe and the Samson Siasia Stadium, respectively.
