August 05, (THEWILL) – As Bayelsa Queens Football Club geared up to take to the pitch in the forthcoming Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership, Coach Whyte Ogbonda has expressed his resolve to surpass their achievements of last season.
Speaking with the Bayelsa Queens Media after a training session at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa, on Monday, Ogbonda said the club is looking forward to making the State proud once again.
Recall that Bayelsa Queens finished third last season behind Rivers Angels and winners Edo Queens.
According to Ogbonda, technical and other necessary formats have been put in place to surpass last season’s achievements.
He said the team has been training tirelessly to ensure they secure a continental ticket at the end of the forthcoming season.
“We are aware of a lot of expectations from Bayelsa Queens, particularly after the team came third in Africa two seasons ago, but we are not under any pressure and the Government and the management of the team have been very supportive,” he said.
He used the medium to appreciate the Bayelsa State Government and the management of the Bayelsa Queens for the freehand and conducive environment they have given him to work with the girls while praising the efforts of the Bayelsa State Ministry of Sports for the preparation for the coming season.
The Coach also appealed to Bayelsans to throw their weight behind the Prosperity Girls through prayers and moral support.
“I want to thank the Bayelsa State Government and the board of Bayelsa Queens for the support and freehand to work, which has made it a lot easier for us and also the Ministry for their efforts to see we get the needed preparations.
“I just want Bayelsans to keep praying for the team, keep supporting us and I can assure them that we will give our 100% performance,” Ogbonda added.
