May 30, (THEWILL)- Norwich City have named Danish manager, Johannes Hoff Thorup, as their new head coach on a three-year contract. The 35-year-old replaces David Wagner, who departed following the club’s playoff semi-final defeat to Leeds United this month.
Thorup joins the Canaries after spending last season in charge of Danish Superliga side Nordsjaelland. He guided them to impressive Europa Conference League victories over Fenerbahce and Ludogorets, exhibiting an attacking brand of football.
“I have clear principles on how we will play,” declared Thorup. “However, I’m also here to listen and build on the excellent work already done.” His assistant will be fellow Dane Glen Riddersholm, formerly the head coach of the Swedish top-flight club Norrkoping. Â
Norwich’s sporting director, Stuart Webber, expressed excitement at Thorup’s arrival: “Johannes has demonstrated an exciting, attacking philosophy that aligns with our club’s values. We’re confident he can help re-establish Norwich as a Premier League force.”
The appointment concludes Norwich’s search following Wagner’s exit. Thorup faces the tough task of reviving the Canaries’ promotion push after their playoff disappointment.
