Nigeria U17s Soar Over Togo In WAFU B Tournament

May 23, (THEWILL)- The Nigeria Under-17 national team, known as the Golden Eaglets, earned a convincing 3-0 victory over Togo in their WAFU B U17 tournament match on Thursday, in Accra, Ghana. The clash was initially scheduled for Wednesday but had to be postponed due to a waterlogged pitch at the University Stadium.

Despite the delay, the young Nigerian talents took control from the outset. Abdulmuiz Adeleke drew first blood in the 11th minute with a clinical finish. It was then up to Rapha Adams’ diving header to double Nigeria’s lead before halftime.

After the break, the Golden Eaglets maintained their dominance. Adeleke capped off an impressive performance by netting his second of the game to make it 3-0. The Togolese U17s had no answer for Nigeria’s attacking quality on the day.

While Adeleke scored a brace, it was Edward Ochigbo, who was named Man of the Match, for a stellar all-round display. With the victory, confidence will be sky-high in the Nigerian camp heading into their remaining group fixtures in the semis.
