Nigeria Confirms Ambassador Adefuye’s Death

SAN FRANCISCO, August 28, (THEWILL) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed the death of the Nigerian Ambassador to the U.S., Prof. Adebowale Adefuye.

A statement signed by the ministry’s Director, Public Communications Division, Mr. Amedu Ogbole-Ode on Friday in Abuja, said Adefuye died at a U.S. hospital on Aug. 27.

The statement was however silent on the cause of death.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs regrets to announce the death of Nigeria’s Ambassador to the United States of America, Amb. Adebowale Ibidapo Adefuye.

“The sad event occurred in a hospital in the United States yesterday, 27th August, 2015,” it said.

The statement said the late envoy was born in 1947, in Ijebu-Igbo, Ogun State.

“The Permanent Secretary, Amb. Bulus Lolo, and the entire officer Corps and Staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs extend their condolences to the family of the deceased.

“We pray that the Almighty grant them the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” the statement said.
