October 16, (THEWILL) – Paris Saint-Germain defeated 10-man Marseille 1-0 to increase their lead at the top of the Ligue 1 standings to three points thanks to Neymar’s ninth goal of the campaign.
PSG had 23 shots on goal in a well-deserved victory at Parc des Princes thanks to the Brazil international’s goal in first-half stoppage time.
Not only did Marseille suffer their first away loss of the season, they also had Samuel Gigot dismissed for a risky challenge on Neymar so that PSG were handed a numerical advantage for the rest of the fixture.
Although no other goals were scored, Christophe Galtier’s side extended their unbeaten streak in the league to 20 games, which is the lengthiest run in the French top division since Les Parisiens went 21 games without a loss from May 2018 to January 2019.
PSG will try to continue their winning streak when they go to Ajaccio on Friday, while Marseille will have a chance to recoup their losses when they visit Lens the day after.
