August 21, (THEWILL) – The Nigeria Christian Graduate Fellowship (NCGF) has announced plans to hold its 49th Conference and 27th anniversary of its Missionary Arm in Bayelsa State.

The conference with the theme: “More Than Conquerors”, will run from Wednesday, August 28, to Sunday, September 1, 2024.

Barr. Peter Great Temedie, President of the NCGF, Bayelsa State chapter, disclosed this on Wednesday, in Yenagoa, during a courtesy visit to the Federated Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

He said the NCGF is a non-denominational faith-based organisation established in 1975 by the then City Graduates, who were Christians.

Temedie, who doubles as the National Legal Adviser to the NCGF, said upon graduation, the traditional church then, realising the power of education and the influence it could have on society, decided to form the association.

This, he said, was to enable them to use their position as Christians and their training and experience as graduates to influence government policies positively to ensure that the policies and programmes do not adversely affect the church.

Speaking on their achievements so far, he said, “We do a lot of things. We influence government policies positively. The church’s position in critical national issues and our drive is to see that society becomes a better place where righteousness, integrity and justice rule and reign.

“We also carry out other humanitarian activities like outreaches, through tracks and distribution in various languages across the globe, even around Africa.

“Also, we organise free medical training or medical services for the less privileged and one is even going on as we speak in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, by this body.

“That drive made the group develop two documents to assist Christians in politics. Number one is the ‘Christian Manifesto for Good Governance’ and ‘Manual for Christians in Politics and Governance’.”

According to him, in 2021, during the public hearing for constitutional amendment across the federation, the body took a very radical position which he said went viral.

“If you log in on YouTube and search for fresh constitution, the first thing that will pop up is our presentation held in Asaba. We advocated for a fresh constitution which was very radical.

“I thank God the Tinubu-led administration is moving towards getting a fresh constitution for the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
