October 8, (THEWILL) – Arsenal striker, Gabriel Jesus, has emerged as Napoli’s number one target to replace Victor Osimhen. Talk of Osimhen’s future at Napoli has intensified amid links with Chelsea and claims the Nigerian is considering leaving the club.
Osimhen’s relationship with Napoli has been strained after the infamous incident involving the club mocking the striker on social media. While tensions have eased, rumours persist that all is not well behind the scenes. Chelsea have been strongly linked with Osimhen as they look to add firepower upfront under Mauricio Pochettino.
Napoli reportedly value Osimhen at €200m, but may struggle to command that fee with his contract expiring in 2025. A mid-season exit seems unlikely but a summer 2024 departure looks increasingly possible.
With that in mind, Napoli have reportedly identified Jesus as the ideal replacement. However, pricing the Brazilian away from Arsenal will not be straightforward. Jesus has been a key player under Mikel Arteta, despite concerns over his goal return. The 26-year-old is tied to the Gunners until 2025.
Along with Jesus, Napoli are also considering moves for Atletico’s Alvaro Morata and Lille’s Jonathan David. Yet, the Arsenal man appears to be their priority target as they brace themselves for Osimhen’s potential exit next year.
