April 24, (THEWILL) – Napoli fans filled the streets of Naples to celebrate their team’s recent win over Juventus on Sunday.
As THEWILL reported, the team’s 1-0 victory brings them one step closer to securing their first Serie A title since 1990. Thousands of fans greeted the team at the airport, singing songs and waving banners.
The players, including Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, were met with an enthusiastic reception upon their arrival in Naples. They climbed onto the roof of the team bus to acknowledge the crowd, which followed them into town on dozens of scooters.
Napoli are now 17 points clear at the top of the Serie A table after matchday 31. They have amassed 78 points over the period with second-placed Lazio on 61 points. Yet, the I Partenopei manager, Luciano Spalletti, has urged caution, especially as the need increases to avoid complacency and a sense of triumph before the Scudetto is secured.
Napoli still need to beat Salernitana on Saturday and hope that Inter Milan avoids a home defeat by Lazio on Sunday, to certainly clinch the title. Despite this, the mood among Napoli fans remains one of optimism and excitement.
