November 29, (THEWILL) – The Nigerian Air Force Officers’ Wives Association (NAFOWA), in conjunction with Airmen Wives Association (AWA) 105 Air Force Composite Group has urged Nigerians to show some love to wounded soldiers undergoing treatment to aid and hasten their healing process.

NAFOWA President, Arc Rukyat Abubakar, represented by Borno State Coordinator, Mrs Esther Olayera, stated this when she led a delegation to visit wounded soldiers at the 7 Division Nigerian Army Hospital in Maiduguri on Tuesday.

She noted that the peace enjoyed in the country was proof of the unwavering efforts of the Armed Forces.

Olayera stressed that the soldiers have been very great in fighting against all forms of criminality and sacrificed a lot to defend the sovereignty of Nigeria, saying they deserve more love from well-meaning Nigerians and corporate organisations.

“We are here to see you and pray for you. In the shortest time, you would be on your feet and go back to your various units. We are showing solidarity with you, and we hope that our little gestures will bring happiness to you.

“We appreciate your sacrifice and we can’t thank you enough for your efforts to protect this state, regions and the nation at large,” she said.

After doling out gifts to the wounded soldiers, she said, “We love you, please accept these little gifts.”

Speaking further, she added: “We need to show our soldiers love and you can see how happy they were when we introduced ourselves to them. This will surely hasten their healing process and help their psychology,”

Olayera and her team also visited Fatimah Modu Sheriff Orphanage Home where they donated food and non-food items to support the orphans and promised to do more for the needy and vulnerable.

“I was emotional seeing those innocent children abandoned by their own mothers. I was really touched, it was really pathetic.

“I urge Nigeria to show love to this kind of people, especially those in the hospital and children at orphanages,” She said.

The delegation was received by Commander Medical Services 7 Division of NA, Lt Col. A. A. Ogunsakin, who thanked the NAFOWA leadership for their gestures, saying the singular act showed that their efforts were not forgotten.

“It is a laudable gesture and it is a solid message to us that we are not left alone, and it shows that people think about the wounded soldiers and appreciate their sacrifices to the nation. These gestures will go a long way and it will encourage them and boast their morals,” Lt Col Ogunsakin stated.

Also, the Director of Special Planning, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Aisha Shettima, appreciated the support and prayed that God would reward those who contributed to providing the items while assuring that the items would be used according to purpose.
