September 13, (THEWILL) – A Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Flying Officer, David Sangokoya, has been awarded the prestigious International Sword of Honour for 2023, at the Royal Air Force College (RAF), Cranwell, in the United Kingdom.
In a statement on its Facebook page on Friday, NAF said Sangokoya, who participated in the Modularised Initial Officers’ Training (MIOT), Course 22 from March to September 2023, was recognised as the Best International Cadet on the course.
“The RAFCC graduates up to eight courses yearly and the International Sword of Honour is awarded to the most outstanding international cadet among all award-winning cadets for the year”, it noted.
The award was presented to Sangokoya by Prince William, the Prince of Wales, on behalf of King Charles III, during the Royal Graduation ceremony held on Thursday, September 12, 2024.
In response to the honour, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, Chief of the Air Staff, extended his congratulations to Sangokoya.
“The Chief of the Air Staff commends Flying Officer Sangokoya for this remarkable achievement, this prestigious recognition is a testament to his focus, dedication and hard work throughout his training”, he said.
Abubakar also praised Sangokoya’s family for their support, noting, “The CAS applauds his family for their support and encouragement, which undoubtedly played a vital role in his success. The Nigerian Air Force is proud of this accomplishment, which shines a positive light on both the Service and the nation at large.”
