July 30, (THEWILL) – Telecoms giant, MTN, has shut all its stores and service centres across Nigeria.
“Yello customer, please be informed that our shops nationwide will be closed today, 30th July 2024”, the company said on its customer support X handle on Tuesday, directing its customers to use their “digital channels” for support..
THEWILL reports that the development followed Monday’s incident in Oyo and Lagos States.
On Monday, a mob was observed smashing a barricade fence outside the MTN office in Ibadan and throwing stones into the building. A similar incident was reported in Lagos. This came on the heels of outcry from its subscribers after the network provider blocked their lines on Sunday.
However, the Lagos State Police, through spokesperson, SP Benjamin, confirmed that they had restored normalcy in the state.
MTN responded on Tuesday, stating that it would close its stores across the country from today as a result of the incidents.
