March 29, (THEWILL) – Wales secured a 1-0 victory over Latvia in their Euro 2024 Group D qualifying campaign, thanks to a first-half header by Kieffer Moore.

The home side dominated the first half, but were unable to convert their chances until the 41st minute when Dan James delivered a perfect cross for Moore to score his 10th goal for Wales.

There was a chance for Latvia to equalise late in the 84th minute when Renars Varslavans sent a bending effort high and wide when scoring could have been easier with the chance he had. The match ended with a win for Wales, who remain unbeaten after two matches. Latvia, playing their first game of the campaign, were definitely outclassed by the Welsh side at the Cardiff City Stadium.

The win comes as Wales seeks redemption after a poor performance in the World Cup in Qatar in November, where they drew 1-1 with the United States before losing to Iran and England. The absence of talisman Gareth Bale, who retired in January after earning 111 caps, makes the Welsh team’s current success all the more impressive.
