May 20, (THEWILL) – In a potential audition for the Juventus job, Thiago Motta’s Bologna raced into a 3-0 lead against the Turin giants on Monday night only to be pegged back to 3-3 in a dramatic finale.
Bologna were rampant early on, with goals from Riccardo Calafiori and Santiago Castro putting them 2-0 up inside 11 minutes. Calafiori added a third just before the hour mark as Juventus, playing their first game since sacking Massimiliano Allegri, were overrun.
However, the visitors showed far more fight after the interval under interim coach Paolo Montero. Federico Chiesa and substitutes Arkadiusz Milik and Kenan Yildiz all struck in a chaotic eight-minute spell to incredibly level the scores.
The thrilling 3-3 draw keeps Bologna third in Serie A, ahead of Juventus on goal difference, with two games remaining. Motta has been heavily linked with taking over the Bianconeri next season and refused to rule out a move when asked about his future.
“I haven’t decided nor signed anything,” said the 41-year-old former Italy midfielder. “Next week, I’ll sit down with the president to make a decision together.”
