Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokounmpo Dunks Bucks Ahead Of Phoenix In NBA Finals Series

July 18, (THEWILL) – There was an outstanding game of basketball in Game 5 of the NBA Finals as the basketballer popularly known as the “Greek Freak” Giannis Antetokounmpo reached 32 points and nine rebounds to get the visiting Milwaukee Bucks a dramatic 123-119 victory over the Phoenix Suns.

It was the culmination of a herculean comeback for the Bucks who were two games down after Game 2 and it means Milwaukee can clinch their second NBA title in franchise history, but their first since 1971, when they return home for Game 6 on Tuesday night.

To the visiting side’s advantage, Khris Middleton added 29 points to Antetokounmpo’s 32 while shooting a blistering 57.5 per cent from the floor to win. Together, they combined with efficient game play to register their third straight game and take a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series finale.

Game 5 needed some final moments drama to be resolved. With only 19 seconds of the game left and with Milwaukee up by one point, Phoenix’s leading scorer, Devin Booker, who led all scorers with 40 points, had the ball and was looking to add a game-winner to his already impressive box score.

However, Jrue Holiday did not let Booker do that as Holiday ripped the ball from Booker and headed to the Phoenix hoop on the fast break, with only Suns point guard Chris Paul was between him and the Phoenix basket. That was when Holiday saw teammate Antetokounmpo streak down the court screaming for the ball.

Holiday placed a perfectly weighted throw into Antetokounmpo’s path and the Greek Freak flew over Phoenix’s Chris Paul for the oop that sealed the game for Milwaukee. It was a violent dunk, which ended up with the Milwaukee man being fouled in the process and awarded a free throw. It was a blow to the chest for the home fans.

Although Antetokounmpo went on to miss the free throw, he still grabbed the offensive rebound to put an end to any would-be miraculous comebacks for the Phoenix. Milwaukee took the much needed victory 123–119 with the possibility of clinching championship victory at their home Arena, the Fiserv Forum.

Game 5 saw Milwaukee become the second team in NBA Finals history to lead at half-time after trailing by as many as 15 points after the first quarter. The Boston Celtics previously accomplished the feat in the 1957 Finals against the St Louis Hawks. And, it is all indication of what to expect in Game 6.
