March 26, (THEWILL) – Bayern Munich’s new manager, Thomas Tuchel, is reportedly eyeing up his former Chelsea players as potential summer targets.
Mateo Kovacic is said to be of interest to Tuchel, who coached the Croatian midfielder at Stamford Bridge. However, Bayern may face competition from English Premier League clubs, Manchester City, Manchester United, and Liverpool, who are all said to be monitoring the situation.
Kovacic has just one year left on his contract with Chelsea. In addition to Kovacic, Tuchel is also said to be interested in signing goalkeeper, Edouard Mendy, who he coached during his time at Chelsea. Mendy has fallen out of favour under Chelsea’s current head coach, Graham Potter, with Kepa Arrizabalaga being preferred in goal.
Despite having a contract with Chelsea until 2025, Mendy is said to be among the lowest earners at the club, and he recently turned down a six-year deal due to concerns over wages.
