April 14, (THEWILL)- Irishman Conor McGregor will return to the octagon against Michael Chandler on June 29, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President, Dana White, has revealed. The welterweight bout will headline the UFC 303 card in Las Vegas.

McGregor (22-6) has not competed since suffering a clean break in his tibia during a fight against Dustin Poirier in July 2021, which required surgery. The former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion is eager to make his long-awaited comeback.

Opposing him will be former Bellator lightweight champion Chandler (23-8), who also lost to Poirier in his last outing in November 2022. The fight has been teased by the UFC for over a year, with McGregor and Chandler coaching opposing teams in “The Ultimate Fighter” reality show in 2023.

In a video posted on X last December, McGregor announced the same date and opponent for his next bout, calling it the “greatest comeback of all time.” The highly-anticipated matchup is set to headline the UFC 303 event in Las Vegas.

With both fighters seeking to reestablish themselves at the top of the UFC, the clash between McGregor and Chandler is sure to generate significant interest among MMA fans worldwide.
