January 04, (THEWILL) – French superstar Kylian Mbappe has stated that he has not yet decided on his future, despite entering the final six months of his Paris Saint-Germain contract. The 25-year-old has long been linked with a move to Real Madrid, with the Spanish giants keen to finally secure his signature after a failed attempt last summer.
Speaking after PSG’s 2-0 Super Cup victory over Toulouse on Wednesday, in which he scored, Mbappe commented: “No, I have not made a decision on my future yet. I’m very motivated for this year, we’ve got titles to go after and we’ve already taken one.” This indicates the prolific striker is focused on continuing PSG’s domestic dominance for now, but his future beyond this season remains unclear.
According to the Athletic, Real Madrid have given Mbappe a mid-January deadline to decide if he will join them this summer, having felt betrayed when he snubbed them to sign a new PSG deal in May 2022. It appears Los Blancos have learned from past mistakes and will look to finalise any transfer early to avoid another dramatic volte-face.
Mbappe also spoke about his deployment as a central striker against Toulouse, rather than his regular left-wing role, stating: “Wherever I play, I don’t think I’ll have any problem performing well.” It is an indication of his world-class ability to adapt his game to multiple positions.
With PSG top of Ligue 1 and still competing on multiple fronts, Mbappe’s sole focus is on delivering domestic and European glory this season. Yet, the tantalising prospect of finally realising his reported dream of playing for Real Madrid continues to cast doubt over his long-term future in PSG.
