December 03, (THEWILL) – Paris Saint-Germain, prevailed 2-0 away to Le Havre on Sunday, despite being reduced to 10 men for most of the fixture. A first-half strike from Kylian Mbappe and late goal by Vitinha, sealed maximum points for the visitors.
The match saw high drama right from the start. PSG goalkeeper, Gianluigi Donnarumma, was given his marching orders, 10 minutes in for a high challenge on Le Havre’s Josue Casimir. Manager Luis Enrique, responded by withdrawing forward Bradley Barcola, for debutant keeper, Arnau Tenas.
Despite being disadvantaged, PSG still forged ahead on 23 minutes courtesy of Mbappe left-footed effort, which clipped the inside of the post en route to goal. Le Havre responded valiantly, with the home side creating several openings. However, Tenas proved equal to the task, making critical saves to keep the visitors in front.
The score remained in PSG’s up to the 89th minute, when Vitinha’s strike took a wicked deflection and crossed the line to seal their victory. That confirmed maximum points for the defending champions on an afternoon when the hosts had promised much.
With a seventh straight league win, PSG extended their lead atop Ligue 1. Yet, manager Enrique, will know there is still room for improvement after a patchy performance. The Parisians march on but sterner tests undoubtedly lie ahead this season.
