October 30, (THEWILL) – Three days after Pablo Mari was stabbed in a supermarket, the on-loan Monza defender has been discharged from the hospital.

The Spanish centre-back, who transferred from Arsenal to Monza on a season-long loan deal in August, had to undergo back surgery after being attacked near Milan on Thursday, by a deranged man.

One of those stabbed lost their life and Mari was among five injured after the culprit was apprehended and disarmed. The 29-year-old, who admitted that he was fortunate to be alive, was given permission on Sunday, to continue his recovery at home as he anticipates being out for at least two months.

In a statement, Monza of Serie A said: “Pablo Mari was discharged from the hospital this morning, returned home and now begins a period of absolute rest. AC Monza sincerely thanks Professor Osvaldo Chiara and all the professionals of the Trauma Center of the Niguarda Hospital in Milan. Pablo, we are waiting for you!”

Raffaele Palladino, the head coach of Monza, has stated that Mari’s teammates will be playing for him when they face Bologna on Monday.
