July 30, (THEWILL) – Bayern Munich’s Sadio Mane is set to undergo a medical at Al-Nassr on Monday, potentially making him the latest high-profile star to join the Saudi Pro League.

The Bundesliga champions have reportedly agreed on a fee with Al-Nassr, paving the way for the 31-year-old forward’s move to Saudi Arabia. Bayern confirmed negotiations were underway by excluding him from the pre-season friendly squad against Kawasaki Frontale, where they tweeted about the ongoing contract talks.

Mane’s time in Germany has been challenging since his £35 million move from Liverpool last summer. He struggled with form, suffered from injuries, and was suspended and fined by Bayern following a training ground altercation with teammate Leroy Sane. Missing the 2022 World Cup due to an injury, Mane now seems ready for a fresh start in Saudi Arabia, joining Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcelo Brozovic at Al-Nassr.

The Senegalese forward was also linked with Al-Ahli and a potential reunion with former Liverpool teammate Roberto Firmino. Mane’s impressive time at Liverpool saw him score 120 goals in 269 appearances and win various major trophies during his tenure, including the English Premier League, the UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup, and the Club World Cup.

Mane was named Africa’s Player of the Year for 2022. He was expected to win it after lifting the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal, scoring three goals and providing two assists on the way to the final, where he also netted the decisive penalty in the shootout victory over Egypt. He also led Senegal to the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Mane was previously named Africa’s Player of the Year in 2019.
