August 30, (THEWILL) – Manchester United have completed the signing of 18-year-old midfielder Sekou Kone from Guidars FC. The Mali youth international chose United over several top European clubs vying for his signature this summer.
The transfer was finalised on Friday evening, just hours before the English transfer window closed. United’s Technical Director, Jason Wilcox, was present at Kone’s unveiling where the young talent posed for photographs.
In their official statement, United emphasised their commitment to helping Kone adapt to life in England. The club’s academy will provide support to ensure a smooth transition for the promising midfielder as he settles into Manchester.
While Kone’s arrival was a low-key affair, United remained active in the transfer market. An agreement is reportedly in place to sign Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain, while Scott McTominay is set to join Napoli. Additionally, negotiations are ongoing with Chelsea regarding a potential loan move for Jadon Sancho.
The Blues have submitted two loan offers for Sancho – one with an optional purchase clause and another with an obligatory purchase clause. United are currently considering these proposals as they deliberate on the winger’s future at the club.
