June 21, (THEWILL) – Manchester United are actively searching for a new striker, and the prospect of acquiring Harry Kane has ignited the hopes of the club’s supporters.
Kane’s impressive performances, combining well with Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw in England’s 7-0 victory over North Macedonia, for instance, has fuelled the dreams of seeing him at Old Trafford next season. The 29-year-old Tottenham star is approaching the final year of his contract and has shown no intention of extending it, following another disappointing season for the North London club. This puts Tottenham in a dilemma: either sell their best player and one of the world’s most talented strikers now or risk losing him for free next summer.
The Red Devils have identified Kane as a key target for the upcoming season, as they seek a proven goal scorer to bolster their attack. Although the Red Devils have reportedly cooled their pursuit of Kane due to Tottenham’s high asking price, the Englishman is said to be eager for a move to Old Trafford. Despite the lack of public communication regarding his future plans, Kane’s interest in joining Manchester United is evident.
United have informed Spurs that they are not willing to meet the £100 million asking price for a player who is approaching 30 and has only one year left on his contract. Consequently, the Red Devils are exploring alternative targets, with Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund emerging as a potential option. Tottenham, on the other hand, prefer not to sell to an EPL rival, as it would weaken their own team while strengthening a direct competitor.
With European giants, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and PSG, also showing interest in Kane, the likelihood of a transfer taking place this summer seems low. As Manchester United aims to avoid prolonged transfer sagas, they appear already focussed on prioritising a move for Mason Mount instead.
