September 05, (THEWILL) – Ivorian centre-back, Eric Bailly, has completed a permanent transfer from Manchester United to Turkish side Besiktas, the Premier League club confirmed on Tuesday.
The 29-year-old spent last season on loan at Ligue 1 outfit, Olympique Marseille, making 17 league appearances as they finished third in the French top flight. He originally joined United from Villarreal in 2016 and went on to make over 100 appearances for the Red Devils, but his playing time was restricted in recent seasons due to injury struggles.
The experienced Ivory Coast international was part of the United squad that won the Europa League in 2016-17 and finished as runners-up in the same competition in 2020-21.
Besiktas, who came third in the Turkish Super Lig last term, currently sit fourth in the league standings this season after three matches played.
