September 18, (THEWILL) – Manchester United right-back, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, has been ruled out for “several weeks” after picking up an injury during the Red Devils’ defeat against Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.
Wan-Bissaka came off the bench in the 85th minute of the match but sustained a knock in the closing stages. Further assessments will determine the exact length of his absence but he is expected to miss several upcoming games.
The setback leaves manager Erik ten Hag short on options in defence as he deals with an ongoing injury crisis within the squad. Wan-Bissaka had started every English Premier League match so far this campaign after regaining his place in the starting XI in the last campaign.
Speaking after the Brighton loss, Ten Hag indicated one unnamed player could return for the Champions League fixture against Bayern Munich on Wednesday, but ruled out a comeback for Wan-Bissaka. The manager lamented his lack of options but said his side must show character and belief against the German champions.
