April 20, (THEWILL) – Amid rumours linking Nigerian sensation, Gift Orban, with a summer transfer to Barcelona, Porto, and Benfica, KAA Gent Technical Director, Michel Louwagie, has confirmed that the striker is not for sale.

Orban has also been linked with a move to the English Premier League, with Leicester City and Leeds United expressing interest in the player. However, Louwagie stated that Orban is a “luxury problem” and that the club did not sign him in January to sell him again in July.

THEWILL recalls that Orban joined Gent during the January transfer window and has been exceptional since making his debut for the Buffalos. He has scored nine goals and provided two assists in nine games in the Belgian Pro-League, and his red-hot form has continued in the UEFA Europa Conference League, where he has scored five goals in five games.

These goals include a hat trick in Gent’s Conference League round of 16-second leg win over İstanbul Başakşehir, making him the fastest hat-trick scorer in the history of UEFA club competition. When asked about the rumoured price of 20 million euros for Orban, Louwagie said, “I am not going to comment on those 20 million. We’ll see what the price will be.”

He also commented on his previous valuation of Moses Simon at 20 million euros, stating that it was due to the high transfer fees paid for Dutch players. Louwagie’s confirmation that Orban is not for sale will be a relief for Gent fans, who are hoping to see the striker continue his exceptional form for the team.
