August 29, (THEWILL) – Liverpool have signed Italian forward, Federico Chiesa, from Juventus, both clubs announced on Thursday. The 26-year-old joins the English Premier League side on a long-term contract for a reported fee of €12 million, with potential add-ons of €3 million.

Chiesa’s move to Liverpool marks the end of his four-year stint at Juventus, where he initially arrived on loan from Fiorentina in 2020. During his time in Turin, the forward netted 32 goals in 131 appearances across all competitions. His final season with the Italian club saw him score 10 goals and provide three assists in 37 matches.

The Italian international experienced a setback in 2022 when a severe knee injury kept him out of action for 10 months. However, Chiesa displayed remarkable recovery, returning to form and contributing significantly to Juventus’ campaign last season. His performances have earned him 51 caps for Italy, including a role in the national team’s Euro 2020 triumph.

Liverpool’s Sporting Director, Richard Hughes, played a key role in facilitating the transfer. Chiesa expressed his enthusiasm about joining the Merseyside club, citing its rich history and passionate fanbase as major factors in his decision. The forward’s arrival at Anfield is expected to add to Liverpool’s attacking options for the fresh season.

With Chiesa’s contract at Juventus set to expire in 2025, the transfer represents good business for both clubs. Liverpool gain a versatile and talented forward, while Juventus receive a substantial fee for a player entering the final year of his contract. The move aligns with Liverpool’s strategy of investing in proven talent to maintain their competitiveness in domestic and European competitions.
