April 26, (THEWILL) – Liverpool clinched a third consecutive win as they fought back from a goal down to beat West Ham 2-1 at the London Stadium.

Lucas Paqueta’s early strike put the Hammers ahead, but Cody Gakpo’s equaliser and Joel Matip’s headed goal in the second half gave Liverpool the lead and ultimately, the victory. The win elevated the Reds to sixth place in the English Premier League, ahead of Tottenham on goal difference.

Paqueta’s 12th-minute goal gave the hosts a promising start, but Gakpo’s long-range shot brought Liverpool back into the game just a few minutes later. Despite missed opportunities from Diogo Jota and Virgil van Dijk, Matip’s header secured the win for Jurgen Klopp’s men. The Hammers had a goal disallowed by VAR, but could not find a way back into the game.

While the loss keeps West Ham in 14th place and only five points clear of the relegation zone, it could be a setback for their hopes of struggling to get a spot in any European competition next season. Liverpool, on the other hand, will look to build on this win when they host Tottenham on Sunday. West Ham will travel to face Crystal Palace on Saturday.
