LG Polls: Benue APC Elects Chairmanship, Councillorship Candidates, Sets Up Appeal Panel

September 06, (THEWILL) – The Benue State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has elected chairmanship and councillorship candidates for the October 5 local government elections.

The Caretaker Organising Secretary/Spokesman of the APC Caretaker Committee in Benue State, Mr James Ornguga, told newsmen in Makurdi that the primaries were hitch-free.

Orgunga said the APC successfully elected 23 chairmanship candidates and 276 councillorship candidates for the elections.

He said all local governments in the state have concluded their primaries and submitted the results to the caretaker committee.

He commended party members for their peaceful conduct during the exercise and praised aspirants for conducting themselves well during the screening exercise of September 1, 2024, which lasted till September 2, 2024.

“The APC is pleased that no form of violence has been reported anywhere during the process as those who have concerns with the screening exercise reports have since approached the Barr. Moses Atagher-led Screening Appeal Committee, which has attended to all cases, paving the way for the commencement of primary election on September 4, 2024, stretching to September 5, 2024, to be completed by 2pm on Friday,” he said.

According to him, the Primary Election Appeal Committee will begin its sitting by Friday, September 6, 2024, to treat all petitions arising from the conduct of the primary elections.

“The party seeks more cooperation and understanding from its members to achieve the overall success of the electoral process.”

According to him, the results returned indicated that Mr. Timothy Adi won the chairmanship ticket of the party in Gwer East while Mr. Guda Terkura won in Vandiekya LGA.

In Makurdi LGA, Mr. Joseph Keffi picked the ticket, Mr. Jonathan Modi in Ukum LGA, Mr. Kumasuun Tyowase in Ushongo LGA, Mr. Vitalis Neji in Kwande LGA, Mr. Raphael Yenge in Tarka LGA, and Mr. Justine Shaku won in Katsina-Ala LGA.

Also, Mr. Matthew Ada won in Okpokwu LGA, Mr. Ochega Adam in Apa LGA, Mr. Melvin Ejeh in Agatu LGA, Mr. James Adole in Ohimini LGA, Mr. Terfa Chikyaa in Konshisha LGA, Mr. Maurice Orwough in Guma LGA, Mr. Raymond Zege in Buruku LGA and Mr Clement Kav in Logo LGA.

Also, Engr. Sunday Oche won in Ado LGA, Barr. Torseer Yina in Gboko LGA, Mr. Maxwell Ogiri in Otukpo LGA, Mr. Daniel Odeh in Obi LGA, Mr. Sunday Ajunwa in Ogbadibo LGA, Mr. Victor Ormin in Gwer West LGA and Jackson Ominyi in Oju LGA.
