July 13, (THEWILL) – Ciro Immobile, Italy’s prolific striker, has ended his eight-year stint with Lazio by signing for Turkish club Besiktas.

The move, confirmed on Saturday, marks the departure of Lazio’s all-time leading scorer, who netted an impressive 207 goals during his tenure.

Reports from Italian media suggest that Lazio will receive a fee of up to €3 million for the transfer. Immobile, now 34, has agreed to a two-year contract with Besiktas. The Turkish giants announced the deal, stating that the player will earn a guaranteed net fee of €6 million per season, starting from the 2024/2025 campaign.

In a heartfelt video message to Lazio supporters, Immobile expressed his gratitude and emotional connection to the club. He said: “I think the moment has come to not say goodbye but see you again. This will always remain my home.” The striker emphasised his continued support for Lazio, declaring himself a fan of the club.

Immobile’s move to Besiktas brings an end to a highly successful chapter in his career. During his time at Lazio, he established himself as one of Serie A’s most feared forwards, consistently delivering goals and leading the team’s attack. His departure leaves a significant gap in Lazio’s squad, which the club will need to address in the coming transfer windows.

The transfer represents a new challenge for Immobile in the Turkish Süper Lig. At 34, he brings a wealth of experience and goal-scoring ability to Besiktas, who will be hoping his clinical quality in front of goal can boost their domestic and European ambitions. For Lazio, the search begins for a worthy successor to their departing talisman.
