Sevilla’s breakthrough came in the 83rd minute when Dodi Lukebakio scored from a well-placed left-footed shot into the top left corner of the net. Assisted by Saúl Ñíguez, the goal sparked a late push from Sevilla, but it proved to be too little, too late, as Alaves held firm to secure the win.
This victory sees Deportivo Alaves climb further up the league standings, while Sevilla will need to regroup and find form quickly if they are to avoid falling behind in the early race for European football.
