Late Hosa Okunbo’s First Wife, Children Hold One Year Remembrance Lecture In His Honour

August 14, (THEWILL) – Almost a week after Nosa, the second wife of Captain Hosa Wells Okunbo, held the first year memorial of her husband, Evelyn, his first wife decided to hold her own first memorial for the late businessman.

Evelyn, who is in her 60s, is the mother of Okunbo’s older children, one of who is Ivie, the Olori Atuwatse III, married to the current Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse lll.

Evelyn’s edition of the memorial was a commemorative lecture, which held in Abuja. It was put together by her, her children and the Olu of Warri.

The lecture themed, ‘Lasting Legacies: The Key To Nigeria’s Development Issues’, held at Wells Carlton Hotel and Apartments, Asokoro, Abuja, owned by the late Okunbo.

Other panelists at the lecture included Dr Mrs Oby Ezekwesili, Mr Tonye Cole, Bishop Wells Idahosa, Mr Otto Orondaam. The lecture was moderated by one of the deceased children, Adesua Okunbo-Rhodes.

Some of the important personalities who graced the lecture were former president Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Patience, the Dein of Agbor Kingdom, HRM Benjamin Ikechukwu, former national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomole, Dino Melaye etc.

Last Sunday, the family held a special memorial thanksgiving service in Benin City, Edo State, which saw a large turnout of family members, and dignitaries including Governor Godwin Obaseki, his Deputy, former Delta State governor, James Ibori, members of Edo state cabinet.

Recall that last Sunday, Nosa had a special memorial and thanksgiving service with her children at the Trinity House Chapel in London where Pastor Ituah Ighodalo ministered.

Evelyn and her children were conspicuously missing at this event.

Like wise at the Abuja memorial, Nosa and her children did not attend.

Nosa and Evelyn do not see eye to eye which perhaps necessitated the reason why two separate memorials were held for the late business man.
During the burial ceremony of late Okunbo, Nosa barred Evelyn from paying her last respect to him.

She approached an Edo High Court sitting in Benin City, seeking a restraining order to stop her from parading herself as his widow and from doing anything that will disrupt the week-long burial rites of the late business mogul.

Last Monday, August 8, 2022 marked one year since the Billionaire-businessman died in the UK at the age of 63, following a battle with cancer.
