September 13, (THEWILL) – Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp, will not be taking over as manager of the German national team, according to his agent, Marc Kosicke.
This comes after Germany sacked Hansi Flick, following their shock World Cup exit and poor run of form over the last year. Klopp had been reported as one of the German FA’s top targets to replace Flick, with claims they would have even allowed the Liverpool manager to take the job on a part-time basis until 2024. However, speaking recently, Kosicke insisted Klopp remains committed to Liverpool, where he has a contract until 2026.
Klopp himself recently admitted the Germany job would be a great honour, but that his loyalty to Liverpool would make leaving difficult. He stated he cannot just abandon the Reds mid-season to take a short-term national team role.

The 55-year-old has helped transform Liverpool into one of Europe’s elite clubs since taking charge in 2015, delivering UEFA Champions League and English Premier League glory. His long-term contract at Anfield means he is not currently available for the vacant Germany position, according to his agent.
Germany have currently relied on Rudi Völler as Flick’s replacement, at least on an interim basis, and recorded a surprise 2-1 friendly win over France in his first game on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Klopp remains focused on bringing more success to Liverpool, with his future beyond 2026 still unclear.
