Kidnapped Delta Monarch Regains Freedom After Alleged Payment Of Ransom

SAN FRANCISCO, February 02, (THEWILL) –The abducted traditional ruler, Odiologbo, of Olomoro Kingdom, Delta state, HRM Josiah Umukoro Agbaza II, who was kidnapped last week by yet to be identified gunmen, has regained freedom after an alleged payment of ransom.

The abductors had demanded a ransom of N50 million as a condition for the monarch’s release but, as at the time of filing this report, a police source who spoke to THEWILL confirmed that ransom was paid but could not ascertain the actual amount paid for his release.

The traditional ruler, who was kidnapped last week at his Olomoro’s office at about 7:30am and taken to unknown destination, regained his freedom on Monday night.

Residents of the community told our correspondent that his return threw the entire Kingdom into wide jubilation.

THEWILL however learnt that it took the unrelenting efforts of the chairman of Isoko South local government area, Sir Ithiako Constantine Ikpokpo and other well-meaning individuals within and outside the local government council to secure the release of the monarch.
