September 18, (THEWILL) – The Minister of Aviation, Mr Festus Keyamo, has permitted the use of the D Wing of the Old Murtala Muhammed International (MMIA) terminal, to complement the New International Terminal, in order to ease the facilitation of passengers through the airport.
Keyamo had on August 31, 2023, during an inspection of the Lagos airport, given a deadline of October 1, 2023, for the relocation of airlines from the old terminal to the new MMIA terminal.
The Minister, later in September, set up a task force to resolve these challenges within the shortest possible period.
The members of the task force are Engineer Hassan Musa, (Retired PS and ex-Dir of Dept. of Air Transport Management (Team Leader); Adebayo Oladipo General Manager Aerodrome NCAA; Mr Collins Mukoro (SA to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development); Mrs Uyoyou Edhekpo (SA to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development) and Mr Henry Agbebire (SA to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development).
But in a twist, Director, Public Affairs & Consumer Protection, Abdullahi Yakubu-Funtua, in an official statement issued on Monday, stated that “this is to inform the travelling public that the Hon. “The use of the D Wing for processing of passengers has since commenced. The Old International Terminal will be renovated in phases”, the statement added.
