Kane Transfer Fee Lower Than Reported – Hoeness

Bayern Munich’s honorary president, Uli Hoeness, has revealed that the club paid just £82m (€95m) to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur. The prolific striker ended his 19-year association with Spurs when he sealed a move to the Allianz Arena on the eve of the 2023/24 campaign.

Kane departed Tottenham as their all-time leading scorer, surpassing Jimmy Greaves’ long-standing record back in February, during a 1-0 victory over Manchester City. Overall, he netted 280 goals in 435 matches for the north London club.

Bayern first expressed interest in Kane in the summer of 2022, despite the player having a contract with Spurs until 2024. Tottenham grew worried as the Bundesliga champions continued courting Kane throughout last season.

After a year-long pursuit, Kane gave Bayern a deadline to agree a transfer with Spurs – if he was still in north London when 2023/24 kicked off, he would remain for the season, as THEWILL reported. Bayern finally reached an agreement with Tottenham on August 10 and completed the deal two days later, with Kane putting pen to paper on a four-year contract.

Reports indicated the initial fee was £86.4m (€100m) plus add-ons, but Hoeness has insisted the amount paid was actually lower at €95m. Since arriving in Bavaria, Kane has excelled with nine goals and five assists in ten appearances across all competitions.

Meanwhile, Tottenham have thrived without Kane under new boss, Ange Postecoglou, sitting joint top of the English Premier League table going into the international break after an unbeaten start.
