September 23, (THEWILL) – Bayern Munich were in devastating form on Saturday afternoon, as they dismantled Bochum 7-0 at the Allianz Arena to go top of the Bundesliga table. A Harry Kane hat-trick and goals from Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, Matthijs de Ligt, Leroy Sane and Mathys Tel saw the champions rout their helpless opponents.
The hosts needed just four minutes to open the scoring, with Choupo-Moting converting a fine Kingsley Coman cross. Kane doubled Bayern’s lead in the 13th minute, sweeping home after a deflected Alphonso Davies cross fell kindly to the England striker. It was 3-0 after 29 minutes when De Ligt rose highest to head home a superb Joshua Kimmich delivery. Sane added a fourth before half-time, finishing off a delightful through ball from Kane.
It was more of the same after the break as Bayern refused to take their foot off the gas. Kane scored a penalty in the 54th minute after Ivan Ordets handled in the box before youngster Tel grabbed his goal, tapping in a Kane pass. The Englishman completed his treble late on, poking home from close range to round off a fabulous individual display.
Bochum offered little resistance throughout, with goalkeeper Manuel Riemann preventing further humiliation. Bayern moved top for now after producing a statement performance, with manager Thomas Tuchel sure to be delighted at his side’s ruthless showing. Kane’s hat-trick takes him to seven goals in all competitions for the German champions as he continues his stunning start to life in Munich.
