December 24, (THEWILL) – Italian football giants Juventus have provided positive updates on the fitness of two key players – Manuel Locatelli and Alex Sandro. Both players were forced off during Juve’s hard-fought 2-1 Serie A victory away at Frosinone on Saturday.
Initially, there were concerns that Locatelli may have suffered a fracture, having missed international duty in November with a rib injury. However, medical tests confirmed that the 25-year-old midfielder had avoided any breaks and was suffering from an oblique contusion.
Left-back Sandro was also assessed after picking up a right thigh issue but an MRI scan delivered good news by ruling out any muscular injuries. He has instead been diagnosed with a minor hamstring overload.
A statement from the Turin club confirmed that both players would be monitored regularly ahead of a huge clash next weekend at home against rivals AS Roma on Saturday, December 30.
Currently sitting second in the league table, manager Massimiliano Allegri will hope to have both Locatelli and Sandro available for selection to maintain their Scudetto title contention this season.
