December 19, (THEWILL) – Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has stated that the club and Mo Salah are in “good conversations” about a new deal. The Egyptian striker’s contract at Anfield expires in 18 months.

Salah stated earlier this month that he wants to stay at Liverpool but that his contract problem must be resolved by “the management”.

Since joining Liverpool in 2017, he has notched up 147 goals in 226 games, helping the team win their first UEFA Champions League trophy since 2005 and their first league title since 1990.

Klopp spoke about the star forward’s deal, saying: “We are having really good conversations. That is it. And I couldn’t care less when it will happen, to be honest. I want it to happen, but when? I couldn’t care less. We are having good conversations. That is the answer.”

Salah had responded to the contract talks earlier, saying: “The decision is in the hands of the management and they have to solve this issue. There is no problem but we have to reach an agreement for the contract. It’s up to them.

“Your financial value shows how much the club appreciates you and that they are ready to do anything for you to stay, but the decision itself is not based on those financial matters only.”
