July 12, (THEWILL) – The family members of Itse Izang from Gashish, in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, have fled to Nairobi, Kenya, following threats by terrorists in the community to eliminate them.
The son of Itse Izang, Master John, told our THEWILL that he fled to Kenya alongside his sisters, for safety when news got to them that terrorists, camped in the community, pointed accusing fingers at them for revealing their hideout.
“My sisters have fled Nigeria and are currently residing in Nairobi, Kenya. They ran for their lives”, he said.
According to Master John, the incident happened in July 2021, the same year he fled Nigeria, saying trouble started when he told villagers in the community that he saw Fulani terrorists camped around their village on his way to the farm.
“When I saw the terrorist camp in our village, I ran back and informed residents what I saw. Chaos engulfed the village, and it was the villagers that involved the police and not me,” he stated.
According to John, the terrorists, on getting information that he was the one who revealed their hideout, started looking for him and his sisters.
“We fled from the village that very day and scampered for our lives. A good Nigerian helped us to leave the country because our lives were in danger,” he added.
Recall that Barkin Ladi is one of the volatile areas in Plateau State experiencing a series of attacks by suspected bandits, aiming to annex and occupy the area.
