April 14, (THEWILL) – Iran launched a “massive swarm” of about 300 drones, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles toward Israel overnight, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Spokesman, Daniel Hagari, said in a briefing on Sunday morning.

However, the DFI said more than 99 percent of the drones and missiles were intercepted.

The attack, Tehran said, is in retaliation for an Israeli strike in Damascus that killed several senior Iranian commanders.

Air raid sirens were reported in numerous places, including northern Israel, southern Israel, the northern West Bank and the Dead Sea near the Jordanian border.

Israel’s Magen David Adom rescue service said it was treating a 10-year-old boy in critical condition in the Bedouin area in the Arad region but provided no details.

U.S. forces downed some of the Iran-launched drones flying toward Israel, according to a U.S. defence official.

US President Joe Biden had earlier alerted to an imminent potential missile attack on Israel by Iran, warning Tehran to halt its plan or face the “ironclad”.

Meanwhile, Biden, in a swift response, has condemned the “brazen attack”, saying he had spoken with Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, and affirmed the United States’ “ironclad commitment” to Israel’s security.

While Britain called the attacks “reckless”, France added that “Iran has crossed a new threshold with regard to its destabilising activities and is risking a potential military escalation.”
