February 24, (THEWILL) -Inter Miami’s manager, Phil Neville, has confirmed his team’s interest in signing Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets this summer.
While Messi’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires this summer, Barcelona are also pursuing a reunion with their iconic superstar. Busquets is also in the final six months of his contract with Barcelona.
“We want to bring the best players in the world to this football club. Messi and Busquets are the two that stand out more in recent years. They’re great players who would still be a massive benefit to this organisation. For MLS, it would be a game-changer,” Neville said.
Messi has previously expressed interest in making the move to Major League Soccer (MLS). However, sources say he is cautious about how this move would affect his chances of winning another Ballon d’Or. The 35-year-old is reportedly keen to remain in Europe a little longer, but has always been vocal about his desire to play in the MLS before retiring.
While Neville’s desire to sign both Messi and Busquets is ambitious, it remains to be seen if Inter Miami can pull off such high-profile deals. The team has previously been linked to other top players, including Sergio Ramos, Dani Alves, Robert Lewandowski, Willian, Cesc Fabregas, and Luis Suarez.
