August 23, (THEWILL) – Former Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, says he is capable of responding and defending issues being raised against him and other officials of his administration and has always made known his belief in the rule of law.
The former governor deeply appreciates all the concerns being expressed by different people over his harassment and those who served his administration in form of petitions to anti-graft agencies, arrests and impoundment of vehicles.
In a statement in Makurdi by his Media Aide, Terver Akase, former governor Ortom, however, called for calm and urged those making statements regarding the situation to exercise restraint and not heat up the polity.
He reiterated his readiness to make himself available to respond to issues bordering on his administration whenever the need arises.
The statement added that Chief Ortom is grateful to all his supporters and well wishers for their prayers and messages of goodwill.
It will be recalled that since exist from office on 29th May, 2023, there is love lost between governor Ortom and his successor, Revd Fr Hyacinth Alia, over issues pertaining to ‘take home largesse’.
Over 42 vehicles were allegedly impounded by the committee set up by governor Alia administration to recover vehicles and other properties in wrong hands.
