June 04, (THEWILL) – Governor Hycinth Alia has said that the office of the governor is not too big for him to run, saying illegal miners and wood loggers in the state are now at great risk.

The governor, who was addressing the congregation on Sunday, after a Thanksgiving mass, organised in his honour by Saint Winifred Catholic Church, Ihyugh, in Vandeikya local Government area of the state, also warned against mounting illegal road blocks in the state.

“Those who mount illegal road blocks are part of insecurity. If you are not police, Army or approved agencies, vacate the road for your good.”

He pointed out that criminal elements live within families and charged traditional rulers to be conscious in their domains to avert security breaches.

While commiserating with the people of Katsina-Ala over the recent attacks and killing of residents, he noted that Benue is open for investment but could be achieved only under the atmosphere of peace.

Governor Alia promised to partner the church and the Parish for growth and sued for patience with his administration over political appointments, promising to create more jobs for the youth.

In his remarks, former presidential aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Moses Ayom, expressed hope in governor Alia to deliver on his mandate in the next four years.

Chief Ayom, who donated the sum of N4.5 million to various groups in the church, called for continuous prayers for governor Alia and the state to witness peace and development.

The Vical General in the Catholic diocese of Gboko, Revd Fr Emmanuel Doki, said with the huge investment of trust, governor Alia will not disappoint Benue people.

According to him, as a priest, if Fr Alia fails in governance, he fails the entire priesthood, especially the Catholic faith; pledging sustained prayers for him to succeed as the blockage on the way to victory was much, but was removed.
